Chaste Tree - Uses and BenefitsFamily: Verbenaceae Composition of Chaste TreeEither the dried ripe fruit of the chaste tree or Vitex agnus-castus extract (VACE) may be used for medicinal purposes. VACE is standardized to contain a specified concentration of one of two plant glycosides (agnuside or aucubin); commercial preparations are usually standardized to contain 0.5% agnuside. Chaste tree berries also contain bioflavonoids and essential oils; the latter impart a pepper-like aroma and flavor.
