Diuretic Combinations – How Diuretic Combinations Works?

Diuretic or “water pill”; combination of two diuretics.
How the Drug Works:
Combination diuretics provide additional diuretic activity (increased water excreted by kidneys) and blood-pressure-lowering effects. They minimize the possibility of potassium loss from the body because they contain a potassium-sparing diuretic.

Guidelines for Use:
- Increases urination, therefore, take early in the day.
- May cause stomach upset Take with food or milk.
- May cause a sensilivily to Sunlight. Take protective measures (eg. sunscreens, protective clothing) until sensitivity is determined.
- If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
- Patients being treated for low blood pressure often feel tired and run down for a few weeks after beginning therapy. It takes time fOr the body to adjust to lowered blood pressure. Continue taking your medicine and check with your doctor.
- Diuretics are usually given as a single daily dose in the morning. Take as directed by your doctor. The daily dose varies depending on individual needs. Do not adjust the dose without consulting your pharmacist or doctor.
- May increase blood sugar levels if you are diabetic.
